Mintlify pricing, explained
Mintlify’s bill combines the plan you choose with any enabled AI credit overages or add-ons. Compare the monthly and annual billing settings, then estimate the features you actually use. Self-hosting has a different cost model: infrastructure plus your team’s time.

Mintlify pricing at a glance
USD list prices checked 2026-10-01. The annual column is a monthly equivalent, with an annual billing commitment.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Usage / seats | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $0.00/month | $0.00/month | 5 editors | Custom domain, web editor, Git sync, search, MCP server and API playground. |
| Pro | $540.00/month | $450.00/month$5,400.00/year | Unlimited editors | Starter features plus AI tools, preview deployments and admin APIs. |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Custom quote | Unlimited editors | Pro features plus enterprise access controls, SLA and migration support; request a quote. |
Pro annual billing is $5,400/year before usage charges. Twelve monthly payments at $540 total $6,480; the list-price difference is $1,080/year. AI credit charges remain separate.

AI credit costs: estimate outcomes, not pageviews
Mintlify’s credit documentation lists 10,000 monthly credits per Pro plan, pooled across an organization. An answered assistant question uses 25 credits; an automation that updates documentation uses 250. Page narration uses 50 credits. Enabled overages cost $0.01 per additional credit. Unanswered questions and automation runs that produce no update do not consume credits.
For budgeting, the useful distinction is ordinary reading versus chargeable AI actions. Your documentation traffic alone does not tell you how many assistant answers or automation updates you will pay for.
A worked monthly estimate
Suppose one Pro project generates 320 assistant answers and 16 automation updates, with no narration:
- Assistant: 320 × 25 = 8,000 credits.
- Automations: 16 × 250 = 4,000 credits.
- Total: 12,000 credits, or 2,000 above the included balance.
- At the documented overage rate, that is $20 extra if overages are enabled, before any other charges.
This is an illustrative calculation, not a customer bill. Purchased packs, rollover credits, other projects and actual activity change the result. Overages are off by default; do not assume the service will keep spending automatically.
Decide which plan’s features matter
List the workflow you want before comparing subscriptions: who writes documentation, how previews are reviewed, whether readers need authentication, and whether AI answers are useful. A plan change is only worthwhile if those capabilities solve a real problem.
Enterprise has no public fixed price in the reviewed pricing page. Ask for a quote covering the requirements you need; a calculator cannot establish your contract or support terms.
Mintlify versus self-hosted costs
Cloudflare states that static asset requests are free and unlimited, while requests that execute Worker code follow Workers pricing. SSR, authentication and dynamic routes can therefore change the hosting bill. A custom domain and third-party services are separate considerations.
Our reviewed Heyo Docs entry is free-tier eligible for a small deployment within limits. That is a source-based assessment, not a guarantee of a zero-cost installation. Optional AI services require separate evaluation.
For a meaningful cost comparison, estimate:
| Cost | Managed documentation | Self-hosted documentation |
|---|---|---|
| Publishing platform | Subscription, where applicable | Your selected framework and infrastructure |
| Dynamic requests and AI | Plan allowances and usage charges | Cloudflare usage and any separate provider |
| Updates and incidents | Evaluate the vendor’s service terms | An owner on your team needs to respond |
| Migration | Content conversion and workflow changes | The same work, plus deployment setup |
If your requirements fit a managed free plan, moving purely to save hosting money may add work without saving a subscription. If you need code ownership and can maintain the stack, compare the Mintlify alternatives and Heyo Docs tradeoffs.
How we checked these prices
We opened the live pricing page, selected both monthly and annual billing, checked the default server-rendered price, and cross-checked credit behavior against Mintlify’s documentation and announcements. These are public USD list prices checked on the date above. Confirm the vendor’s current page and final billing terms before making a purchase.
Common questions
Does Mintlify have a free plan?
Yes. The current plan is called Starter. It is separate from a paid-plan trial, and it does not include the credit-powered AI features documented for Pro and Enterprise.
Is the annual price the same as a monthly subscription?
No. The annual price is displayed as a monthly equivalent with an annual commitment. Use the billing-period labels in the table and confirm the final terms before subscribing.
Can a self-hosted documentation site be cheaper?
It can have a lower hosting bill, especially when pages are static. That is not an equivalent comparison unless you also account for maintenance, search, publishing, authentication and any AI services you need.
